Beer Pong FAQ
What is the World Beer Pong Tour?
The World Beer Pong Tour is a company that was created by Sam Pines. The vision was born back in 2005, when Sam and his college roommate formed a beer pong league. The league was then transformed into a tour in Fall 2006. More company information can be found on the About Us Page.
What are the basic rules of your game?
Our rules were created to make the game as fun as possible. Our basic rules are ten cup format, no bouncing, two cups in the same turn brings one ball back, shoot until you miss rebuttal, knocked over cup is a made shot, and drinking is not required to play. More rules can be found in our official rules section.
What equipment do you play with?
We play with standard 8 foot beer pong tables as well as 16 Oz. Cups and 40 MM balls made by GetBombed.
Why do you only get 1 ball back if you make 2 in the same turn?
Growing up, we always played 2 balls back at house parties and home games. However, when we adapted our universal set of rules for organized tournaments, we thought 1 ball back was better for tournament play as it keeps the games closer and more exciting.
Do you guys play with beer or water in the cups?
We encourage all players to use water in the game cups for sanitary purposes. Having beer in the cups can cause players to get sick and also spread germs. Playing with water also gets the games going quicker.
What are qualifier tournaments?
Qualifiers are tournaments backed by the WPT where the winning team of each tournament will compete in the Atlantic City Championship for the $50,000 Prize Pool.
Why isn’t there an elbow rule or a rule against leaning?
Everyone has grown up playing with some sort of elbow or lean rule. However, in competitive beer pong, it is impossible to enforce this rule while running many games simultaneously. So we allow the lean in our games. If every player is allowed to lean, it really isn’t unfair.
Do I have to be 21+ to play?
For most of our qualifiers you must be 21+ to compete, unless otherwise mentioned on the event’s page. For our $50,000 Atlantic City Championship, you only need to be 18 to compete, but you will not be allowed to consume alcohol at the event.
