Smashing Time represented the WBPT well this past weekend in Vegas, outlasting over 400 teams and capturing the $50,000 grand prize at the World Series of Beer Pong. Ron Hamilton and Mike Popielarski of Long Island, NY became the first New Yorkers to win this tournament, defeating fellow WBPT players Joe Radesco and Brian Nentwig in the final series.
414 teams made the trip out to the World Series of Beer Pong; a 4-night event that is now becoming a regular pilgrimage for the beer pong elite. The World Beer Pong Tour brought 33 teams out to Vegas, all winners of satellite tournaments we hosted in Winter/Spring '08. Teams flown out to Vegas on our behalf included the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th placing teams at the World Series. (4th place are also regular WBPT players but didn't receive their entry through us)
Jersey players Jimbo Matsukas and Kris Fraser placed 3rd, Michigan players Dane Ellis and Joe Eastman came in 4th and Long Island natives Nick Manfredo and TJ Lazarus came in 5th.
Stay tuned for upcoming tournament info.
