Thank you for very much for your feedback and your interest in World Pong Tour and what we are all about. We have been flooded with comments, emails, and phone calls regarding the new qualifier policy posted earlier this week.
.
I’d like to summarize the comments. There are some exceptional players who consistently win tournaments. Their complaint is that because they are good they don’t want to be penalized by paying the same entry but getting a less valued prize after they have already won. The elite teams want to win as many AC hotel bids as possible and sell them to make money off them. When we initiated the whole bid concept, our idea wasn’t for these elite players to win this frequently and make a business out of it for themselves. We want to expand the sport and have as many people as possible play in these events.
.
World Pong Tour promotes entertainment and fun for all players. So we made a decision that a player can only win 1 hotel bid. This gives everybody the opportunity to participate, and have a chance at winning.
.
We, at WPT want to keep the fun and entertainment aspect of the game alive. This is the reason why we have implemented such a rule. Yes it may affect players who participate in our events often, and we’re not doing this to try to punish the teams that have shown us such support, but it significantly affects the entertainment value of the other participants when the same players are winning the majority of the tournaments they play in. Implementing such a rule helps level the playing field.
.
For these elite group of players: We are in the process of instituting an exclusive tournament where players who have already won hotel bids may compete for a larger valued prize. Details are being worked out as we speak and we will provide more information once things are finalized. We appreciate the feedback and your opinions are valued.
.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the upcoming tour as well our 2nd annual Atlantic City Beer Pong Championship this June.
